Defeats by Wales and Serbia last month put an end to their hopes of qualifying for the World Cup in Brazil next year but Strachan says he has learnt a lot in the three games he has been in charge.

"There are things we can work on, there are strong areas in the team that we can use as a focal point, and the way we want to go in terms of attacking, and there are things we need to do defensively," he told Sky Sports.

"We need to make things simpler.

"I think we may have given them too much information in terms of defending and attack as well and that is one thing I have learnt myself and we have a better idea of what international management is about.

"It is small things as you can't be as demanding as you are in club level - there has to be a balance, and I think I now know where that level is."
