The Partick Thistle goalkeeper has been included in Gordon Strachan's ranks for an international friendly double-header with the USA and Norway.

Just being part of the set-up represents some achievement for Fox, who has endured his fair share of bad luck in recent times.

An exit from Glasgow giants Celtic saw him become embroiled in a lengthy legal wrangle, before then being released by Dundee on the back of their administration struggles.

The 26-year-old has refused to throw in the towel, though, and is finally getting the recognition he deserves after working his way back to the top.

Fox told the Daily Record: "I came close to dropping out altogether. You doubt yourself but I wanted to play football, I enjoy it and I thought I needed to get back into it.

"That's when your friends and family come into play. They saved me.

"The lowest point was not being able to play the game I love. That was when I left Celtic and there were wrangles.

"I played for Queen of the South on amateur forms. There was no money involved. It was all about playing. That's what I had to do. The whole legal process after I left Celtic took about six months.

"My family and friends looked after me and kept me strong. There were days when I felt down but it has all been worthwhile."

He added: "Just playing football again seemed a long way off after losing my job at Dundee. But I've been given a chance at Thistle and am enjoying my football with them.

"They've brought the best out of me and now I have this opportunity I intend to enjoy it."

was there, it was embarrassing - the team looked totally unbalanced from the off, the defence was woeful and when Mikel came off injured it got even worse with nobody in front of them. Up front on several occasions we had opportunities and nobody would shoot - it was a complete farse! On the back of Salah's performance I'm glad there is talk of getting shot...

reat to see Tommy Rosicky getting some love. A wonderful player. Such a pity we lost so long to injury. I was so excited when we signed him, this resurgence only makes the absences seem more of a lost opportunity.
