The 34-year-old has returned for a third spell at Rangers this summer after spending the past two years in the MLS with the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Miller retired from international football almost 12 months ago after scoring his 18th goal for Scotland on his 69th appearance in the 3-2 defeat by England at Wembley.

And, despite being back in Scotland, Miller is not contemplating returning to the national team following the improvements made under Gordon Strachan this year.

"It's something I haven't thought of too much," said Miller in the Daily Record.

"If you look at the team at the moment things are going fantastic and they've got a lot of players in that position coming through.

"You've got Steven Fletcher, Steven Naismith and wee Ross McCormack, who’s just joined Fulham for big money. They're coming in and doing great.

"But I made the decision to retire purely on the travel from Vancouver for the games. The MLS doesn't shut down like our domestic league, so I was maybe missing one or two matches because of the travel. I wanted to be fair to myself, Scotland and Vancouver.

"I'm back home now but I haven't really thought about it.

"If a call came in a time of crisis I'd find it hard to say no because everyone knows what playing for my country meant to me. But I haven't thought about doing a U-turn."

e'll be fine, no problem. If they do get relegated, he's definitely going to ask how anyone could ever have thought that Villa were going to be fine given their problems before he came.

toke though. Hmn. I don't think it was defending that made people dislike Stoke so much as the out and out cheating/nastiness they regularly displayed. That, and they kept buying the odd flair player and then ruining them (Oh! Tuncay, what were you thinking?).

ell that really inspires me with confidence. No point in training, deciding on a coherent formation, or playing players in their best positions, let's just hope we get lucky.
