Aberdeen progressed to the third round of the Scottish Communities League Cup with a hard-fought 2-0 extra-time victory over Morton at Cappielow.

Gavin Rae steered a header home four minutes into the second period of extra-time and Scott Vernon tapped in from close range five minutes later to put the game out of Morton's reach.

The Irn-Bru First Division side were more than a match for their Clydesdale Bank Premier League opponents and can consider themselves unlucky not to have at least forced penalties, having enjoyed the better chances during the opening 90 minutes.

m not sure about this distance covered malarky, plus that stat comes with *since February attached to it, that's just 1 month. I mean I have 27 open cases I'm 'working on' at the moment but believe me others with 10 cases work harder than I do. I just got back from a pub lunch, scampi and chips (+4 pints) in case you were wondering.
