Barry Smith: Seeks settled side

Despite picking up four points from their last two league games, the Dark Blues remain bottom of the SPL table and on Saturday welcome leaders Hibernian to Dens Park.

Since returning to the SPL, Dundee has seen a number of key players sidelined by injury, denying Smith the chance to name his strongest side.

The club are still four points adrift at the base of the table but Smith believes there is still plenty of light at the end of the tunnel.

He told the Dundee Courier: ''With the past two performances and the second half of the game at Aberdeen, we can approach it with a wee bit of confidence as we are getting some consistency.

''Last saturday was the first time this season we have been able to select the same team two weeks in a row.

''I had harped on about having to change my back four every week so that's the first time we have had the same back four two weeks in a row, never mind the same team.

''That helps a lot as you get consistency with players being alongside one another.''
