Neil Lennon: Celtic manager rules out making an expensive signing in January

The 41-year-old is in the market to reinforce his squad for the second half of the season during which the Glasgow giants will aim to retain their Scottish Premier League title and progress beyond the Champions League last 16.

However, the Northern Irishman insists that he will not splash huge clash to bring in an expensive player as there is no need to do so.

"I wouldn't do that (bring in a marquee signing)," he is quoted as saying in the Daily Record.

"I don't think there's any need. We have to be prudent, that's worked for us over the past couple of years and we feel it's the right way to go.

"Left-sided is what we want, either a winger or a left-back, because we are short in that department. So we'll look to enhance that part of the squad if we can."
