Vigurs rescued a point from an entertaining match at the Global Energy Stadium as the home side maintained their impressive start to the year with a 2-2 draw.
The result keeps County in 10th place in the Clydesdale Bank Premier League but more importantly it moves them 15 points clear of bottom club Dundee, their opposition next Friday night, and closer to the teams immediately above them.
Vigurs netted deep into injury time. Rocco Quinn had given County the lead in the 20th minute with a deflected drive but Michael Ngoo outstripped the County defence to level before the break.
Jamie Walker looked to have bagged all three points for the Edinburgh side when he headed home a Fraser Mullen cut-back just after the hour, only for Vigurs to have the final say with a close-range finish.
Vigurs said: "We are undefeated this year, we want to continue that. It shows how resolute we are as a team - we've really dug our heels in this year and we've just got to keep on picking up points, like we did today.
"We've got a good side, we've got some good young players. The big boy up front (Michael Ngoo) was a handful but we got a good point.
"The boys are always going to give 110 per cent, and that's what they did. Against Hibs we managed to go a goal ahead and not concede. We could have done that (against Hearts), but they have some quality players.
"There isn't that much now between ourselves and the teams in the top half of the league. If we had got a win we would have been sitting pretty.
"The first objective was to stay in the league and pick up points, that's what we are doing most weeks. We'll keep going about our business game by game and we'll do all right."
Hearts youngster Callum Tapping, who impressed with another mature performance, said: "It was a good game, we were unlucky to lose the goal in the last minute, it was a bit of a letdown."
As for his spell in the senior team, Tapping, 19, said: "I've enjoyed it, it's been a great experience so far. The more experienced players have been brilliant, they've helped me a lot.
"It's always good to play but there are other players knocking on the door, it keeps me on my toes.
"I'd love to stay in the team for the League Cup final but it's the gaffer's decision."
