Pat Fenlon: Aware of Boyd's threat

All-time Scottish Premier League top goalscorer Kris Boyd could make his return to the Kille team after re-signing for the Ayrshire club on Saturday while former Celtic forward Cillian Sheridan is fit again after a hamstring injury.

But Irishman Paul Heffernan is the man in possession of the centre-forward's jersey after hitting six goals in Kilmarnock's five-match unbeaten run.

And Fenlon knows they cannot get distracted by the potential return of Boyd.

Fenlon said: "His record is very good when he was at Rangers and Kilmarnock previously. He knows where the goal is, that's for certain.

"But we have to concentrate on our own team and be ready for any eventuality, and that's what we have been working on for the last couple of days.

"There are some strikers in the league at the moment that are playing really well and chipping in with a lot of goals.

"Heffernan is a good player as well and knows where the goal is, and gets different types of finishes as well.

"If you throw Boyd, Heffernan, Cillian Sheridan into the mix, they have some real good goalscorers so it should make for an entertaining game."

Boyd scored 67 goals in his first spell with Killie and the 29-year-old remains top SPL scorer with 164 after returning from spells in England, Turkey and the United States.

Killie boss Kenny Shiels said: "I think we will get a lift from him and he is one who will certainly add something to our team."
