Higdon headed Well on the road to victory in the ninth minute, before Nicky Law's second-half double secured the points.

And the 21-goal hitman admitted he would be keen to follow the lead of boss McCall, who signed a two-year extension to his contract this week.

"I hope to stay also," Higdon said. "I've yet to speak to the club about a new deal so I'll have to see what's on offer.

"I'm in no rush but it's a definite possibility I'll stay. I'm very happy. I feel comfortable playing for the gaffer. There is no pressure. It's a really good environment in which to work and play.

"It was great for the club that he agreed to stay. He's an excellent guy and an excellent manager."

McCall was full of praise for his in-form players, who left Dundee trailing by 13 points at the foot of the SPL and preserved their three-point lead over third-placed Inverness.

He said: "It's very pleasing. It was very open in the first half and I think we just stepped things up in the second half in the final third, which made all the difference.

"I'm delighted for Nicky Law. I've said to him that adding more goals to his game will be the difference between him becoming a really great player. He's got the ability to do that so it's not before time.

"Now the important thing for us is to keep the foot on the pedal. We can't afford to slacken off.

"If we can get second place it would be great. With the players we lost last summer, I would never have thought we'd have been in the running for second spot.

"But we can't get carried away as we could still finish sixth."

ood lord that's got me unnecessarily excited. Damn you Storey. Cut to Liverpool being crushed under the wheels of Sparky's Stoke Machine and Firmino brought off the bench to no effect. It's the hope that kills you.

think he'll do quite well. My only reservation would be Kagawa, who had similar stats to Firmino in the bundesliga before he came, but time will tell.
