Fenlon: Not a one-man team

Hibernian boss Pat Fenlon insisted his side's 3-1 victory at Kilmarnock without star striker Leigh Griffiths proved they are not a one-man team.

Griffiths was left out of the squad for the re-arranged SPL clash at Rugby Park, and Eoin Doyle's late double stole all three points after Lee Ashcroft had cancelled out Scott Robertson's early opener.

Fenlon said: "That comes from the press to say we are a one-man team.

"We've got goals from other players in the team as well and I was delighted for Doyle because he worked tremendously hard and got his rewards in the end.

"He put in a hard shift and stuff didn't come off for him probably over most of the game, and then he got two chances and took them well.

"He had one disallowed as well. I'm delighted for him because he puts in a great shift every time he plays and he's got the rewards at the end of the game tonight."

Griffiths was rested ahead of the Scottish Cup final against Celtic on 26 May, but Doyle's performance could earn him a place in Fenlon's starting line-up.

"They are all in my thoughts," the Hibs boss added. "That's what I said to them when we qualified, that we've got a few league games left and to make sure they give me a headache for picking a squad.

"We want to finish in seventh and if we win on Saturday we can do that now. So that will be a plus as well."

On Griffiths' reaction to being rested, Fenlon said: "He's grand, he's okay. We gave him the night off, we didn't bring him so we could rest him.

"He will be back in training on Friday and I'm sure he will be raring to go at the weekend."

ah, Fergie is just having another pop at Rooney. He just wants to put him down whenever he gets a chance. Rooney is by far the best English player. Carrick is not far behind, mind. However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
