It was revealed at the end of June that an invitation to travel to Scotland had been put to the highly-rated 17-year-old.

He was tied up at the African U17 Championship in Morocco at that time, but is now free to link up with the Saints.

Gomah is looking forward to testing himself in new surroundings and hopes he can do enough to convince Danny Lennon that he is deserving of a permanent stay.

He said: "I am happy to be at St Mirren trying to win a contract.

"I want to make a name for myself in the Scottish league.

"I am a young player with a lot of ambition. St Mirren could be a great start for my career. They are a family club and I can sense that.

"My ambition is to become an international player in the next two years. If I impress here and play well, I might get to go to the World Cup."
