Derk Boerrigter: Hopeful of playing against Ajax

The 27-year-old moved to Glasgow from the Amsterdam club in the summer in a deal worth £3million.

Injury has limited him to just a handful of appearances, but he made his return in the weekend's win over Dundee United and is now hopeful of featuring at his former home the Amsterdam ArenA on Wednesday.

"It was nice to play football pain free again, I felt no problems after the game," he said.

"I'm short of match fitness, but I'd be happy to play left or right wing. The boss wants players who are sharp, so it is up to him."

Boerrigter insists he has no regrets about leaving Ajax.

"Did Ajax let me go too easily? Maybe, maybe not. But I welcome the chance Celtic has given me," he said.

"The first year I played for Ajax, I played 21 games and scored ten times - not bad for a winger. My second year wasn't as successful, but everyone knows I had a back injury.

"Everyone at the club is looking forward to it and as a former Ajax player, it will be fun for me. I will see my former colleagues in the dressing room after the game, like I did in the first match."

may well get slated by other United fans for this, but out of the three contenders, I'd far prefer Liverpool to win the title. However I just have to applaud Brendan Rodgers and the way he's turned Liverpool around in just a couple of seasons. It...

H

ooray! We are all excited now, we beat a very mediocre team! With all due respect to WHU supporters, not winning that game shouldn't even be a consideration. This is the problem, there is no winning mentality at the Emirates - we're all congratulating ourselves beating a team that we have a winning record against.

I

s this meant to be an aspiration for United supporters? Moyes mediocrity strikes again. I see the Bayern boys don't want to sign for him, and his reputation amongst the senior European coaches make other key signings unlikely.
