The 22-year-old expects a tough season in the Championship as Hearts are joined in the second tier by local rivals Hibernian and Rangers, who will compete with the likes of Falkirk and Queen of the South for promotion to the Scottish Premiership.

Wilson said: “I think it’s going to be an exciting league. Everybody is talking about it, this is the league they are talking about and hopefully we can sell out Tynecastle and bring them here and have good games against these kind of people.

“But it’s going to be tough because the teams who are already in the league are good teams. We played a few of them in the cup last year and we only managed draws so it just shows you how tough the league is going to be.

“There are three big clubs and the teams that were down there were performing well last year. I think Falkirk just missed out on it.

“There will be a lot of teams trying to get up, especially now there’s the playoff in the league, so it could go down to who brings in the best players in the summer."

Hearts signed former Dundee United midfielder Morgaro Gomis on a three-year contract on Thursday, and Wilson hopes the 28-year-old will be the first of several experienced players to arrive at the club before the start of the new campaign.

Wilson said: “I think we need a few more experienced heads. Up until yesterday I was the oldest player in the squad, so that gives an indication of how young we are.

“I think there are plans in place from the management to bring more players in so we’ll just need to wait over the few days to see who they bring in.”

t's why Mourinho is so successful. He gives players a specific, limited set of functions to perform. They are but a cog in a machine. Do no more, do no less. I assume he learnt it from LvG :)

really hope that someone in the mainstream media spots that the Bayern manager played for and managed Barcelona quite well, and thinks to mention it in the build up. That would be really interesting.
