The former Liverpool midfielder has been restricted to two substitute appearances since joining the club over the summer as a result of the niggling injury but had been in line to start this weekend's Serie A match against Catania.

But Fiorentina have confirmed the problem that has disrupted the start of Aquilani's season will require more time to heal.

"ACF Fiorentina announces that Alberto Aquilani was visited today in London by Prof. Nicola Maffulli regarding his Achilles tendinopathy," read a statement on club website violachannel.tv.

"The specialist found no significant changes, but suggested, however, treatment for another two weeks."

xcellent! Not sure if he is any good as a manager (never thought about it) but the 'headbutt in the technical area' and what he said to Pelligrini were just brilliant, it was as if he was trying to recreate the end of the Alan Partridge Xmas special when Alan punched a man in a wheelchair and verbally abused Tony Heirs.
