Johan Djourou: Roma talk rejected

Johan Djourou's agent has dismissed reports the Arsenal defender is set to join Serie A giants Roma in the January transfer window.

The Switzerland international has not yet played a minute of Premier League action this season and the 25-year-old has slipped down the defensive pecking order at the Emirates.

Djourou had previously been linked with a move to Napoli over the summer, but Gunners boss Arsene Wenger kept hold of him due to his versatility.

Agent Flavio Ferraria insists Djourou's future remains at Arsenal and has denied any contact from Italy.

He told calciomercato.it: "There has been absolutely no contact with Roma and I don't know where these rumours have come from.

"I met Johan recently, but we did not talk about Roma because there's really nothing to say.

"There is no real possibility that he will leave Arsenal as he is contracted to them until 2015. However, we will evaluate the current situation in January.

"Obviously he would like to play in Italy because we have discussed this several times before, but he hasn't a preference for any specific club.

"I think he would do very well at Roma because he is young and versatile and the most important thing is that he wants to play with continuity."

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.

afa has to be favourite for the Everton job now, surely :) He'll realise his ambition to live and work on Merseyside again, get the best out of whoever plays for them, maybe win some cups and be thoroughly loathed by the toffee fans. What's not to like? Go ead, Ken, gimajob!

hat is arguably the least inspiring England I have ever seen. There is not a single name in that list that makes me think I might actually want to watch this team. Not a one.
