AC Milan have published a picture that appears to show Paolo Berlusconi making peace with Mario Balotelli after footage emerged of the Serie A club's vice-president using a racial slur to describe the striker.

Paolo Berlusconi, at 64 the younger brother of club president Silvio, was filmed describing Balotelli as "negretto di famiglia" - translated as "the family's little n****" - at a political meeting in Monza on Sunday.

When contacted by Press Association Sport on Wednesday, Milan declined to comment on the footage, which was hosted on the website of Italian newspaper La Repubblica, but on Thursday the club posted a picture of the two men shaking hands and smiling at each other on their official website.

A statement was published to accompany the picture and read: "Today the vice-president of AC Milan, Paolo Berlusconi, had a brief conversation with Mario Balotelli while helping out at Milanello (Milan's training ground)."

Paolo Berlusconi was attending a rally for a candidate for his brother's right-wing People of Freedom party when he made the reported comments.

It caused outrage in Italy, especially after Milan midfielder Kevin Prince-Boateng won plaudits from Berlusconi senior for walking off the pitch after being racially abused during a friendly last month.

The Italian Football Federation (FIGC) told Press Association Sport that unless a formal complaint was received they would not be investigating the matter.

An FIGC spokesman referred to the extensive material published in the wake of Boateng's decision to walk off the pitch at Pro Patria for any clarification of the federation's determined stance against racism.

Italy international Balotelli joined AC Milan from Manchester City on transfer deadline day last week and scored twice on his debut against Udinese at the weekend.

was there, it was embarrassing - the team looked totally unbalanced from the off, the defence was woeful and when Mikel came off injured it got even worse with nobody in front of them. Up front on several occasions we had opportunities and nobody would shoot - it was a complete farse! On the back of Salah's performance I'm glad there is talk of getting shot...

reat to see Tommy Rosicky getting some love. A wonderful player. Such a pity we lost so long to injury. I was so excited when we signed him, this resurgence only makes the absences seem more of a lost opportunity.
