City have announced they will feature alongside Balotelli's current club AC Milan in the four-team Audi Cup in Munich in July and August.

The controversial Balotelli left City in January after an eventful two-and-a-half-year spell at the Etihad Stadium.

Hosts Bayern Munich and Brazilian club Sao Paulo are the other clubs taking part in the competition, which will see games played at the Allianz Arena on July 31 and August 1.

City's chief commercial and operating officer Tom Glick said: "We are delighted to have been invited to take part in the Audi Cup and to be competing with some of the best teams in the world.

"This tournament forms a significant part of our pre-season preparations and we are very much looking forward to it."

Another former City player, Nigel de Jong, could be in action for Milan while Jerome Boateng, also once of the English side, now plays for Champions League finalists Bayern.

City are also due to take part in the Barclays Asia Trophy in Hong Kong in July, along with Tottenham, Sunderland and South China FC.

he solution is to not feel sorry for any of Jabba, Gold or Sullivan. They're all deeply unpleasant and all deserve each other. If only West Ham would sign Barton and Suarez then no one would ever need to despise any other club.

lassic management. Build them up and then knock them back. Raise expectations and then dampen them. Create a dynamic where by you demand the most from your team, but where the team are given room to manoeuvre unexpected or unwanted results. Classy work by Van Gaal, he really reminds me a lot of me. A smart cookie, make no doubt.
