The 29-year-old, who only managed five league appearances during a six-month loan spell with Genoa earlier this year, will hope to earn a starting berth at the Stadio Ennio Tardini.

A statement published on Parma's official website read: "Parma have taken defender Mattia Cassani from Fiorentina on a temporary deal with the option to buy."

The 11-time Italy cap graduated from the Juventus academy before spending time at Sampdoria, Verona and Palermo and earning a 2million euro move to Florence in 2011.
