Dave Jones: Praised new signing Leroy Lita for his "scruffy" winner

The former England Under-21 international, who joined the Owls from Swansea just 24 hours earlier, converted a Jermaine Johnson cross to bag a dramatic last-minute winner on his Wednesday debut.

Jones was delighted with his side, who were trailing until the 84th minute, as they snatched an unlikely victory.

Speaking of new signing Lita, Jones said: "It's nice to have a striker on the pitch who can get that scruffy goal.

"He's done that all his career - and he's scored some good ones as well.

"We defend well but scoring has been a problem. Hopefully one or two will learn by watching him and that's a good education.

"He's been a good player wherever he's been and the one thing he's done is score goals. He knows where the back of the net is."

Jones' men have picked up 13 away points out of 15, since losing to Championship leaders Cardiff on December 2.

m starting to think Roman may never actually be happy at the top level. If he wants all conquering fancy football I wonder if he'd be better off buying a lower division side then paying outlandish salaries to attract high caliber players too good for the division.
