The 31-year-old joined the Owls in May 2011 and made 28 appearances in Wednesday's promotion-winning season to the Championship.

He started last season on loan with League One side Scunthorpe but returned to Hillsborough in December and went on to become a key member of Dave Jones' engine-room.

The new deal keeps Prutton with Wednesday until the end of next season.
