The Owls have drawn up a lengthy list of targets and have already acquired the services of Jacques Maghoma.

The challenge now is get further deals over the line, with a summer refresh required if Wednesday are to be competitive in the Championship next term.

Jones is looking to strengthen in all departments and is confident of bolstering his ranks before the big kick-off in August.

He told the Sheffield Star: "We're still looking to bring in four or five players.

"We're trying to clinch deals and hopefully we'll get them done, but at this stage of the year a lot of players will keep their options open, which you'd expect."

Owls chairman Milan Mandaric has a prominent role to play in the transfer negotiations and he insists the club are doing all they can to recruit in the right areas.

He said: "A lot of work is being done. We are really looking to build a strong, competitive team.

"We are looking now. Then we shall have another transfer window in January - we need to be as strong as possible before that.

"I am looking for the team to do better. In the second half of last season we got 40 points. If we can bring back healthy players, (Michail) Antonio and Reda Johnson, and we have five or six new players, I expect us to do a lot better."

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
