The point-blank stop minutes from time showed just why the Poland goalkeeper was brought straight back into the side after missing six weeks with a fractured hand.

Adam Lallana settled a match of little quality against West Brom when he buried Gaston Ramirez's superb flick beyond Ben Foster midway through the second half to secure a 1-0 success.

"It was a great performance by Boruc and it was a massive save at the end that really saved us," the Argentine told Sky Sports through his translator.

However, by elevating Carrick like that, Sir is having a dig at Wayne. Fergie is well-known for mind games like that. Good to see he's still feisty.
