Atlético Take Inspiration From Aragonés...

It was fitting that it was his old club who captured the spirit of Luis Aragonés to move to the top of the table without any other rivals for the first time in 18 years, says Stannardo...

Actually scratch the Ronaldo comment from my orevious post apparently he's free to play tonight as his ban of three games doesn't start immediately.

odds of 3/1 for La Liga 7/2 for Copa Del Rey and 12/1 for CL (4/1 to reach the final) and I'm sure any reputable firm would offer you a fancy enough price on the combos. The Copa Del Rey price seems particularly generous when you consider Real will be without Ronaldo for at least the first leg of the semi and possibly both. BTW I don't gamble often I swear :)

Athleti have been getting better and better under Simeone. It's a club with quality who had no leadership and a renegade coach (no more than year at any club) who has found the perfect vehicle for him. All this nonsense linking their best players to leave- most love the club and manager. Real chance they can push as far as poss. What odds for a domestic double and semis of CL? Big ask and probably wouldn't be frakssmee level of bet but still

¿10 each way on Athletico at 66/1 to win La Liga at the start of the season, did it as a bit of fun as I just thought they were a tad overpriced, starting to get a bit excited now, best price of 3/1 now avalable.

They were my dark horse for the champion league but if they can get passed Real Madrid in the Copa del Rey, I'd have to coscider them as favorites for Europe as well, just behind Bayern Munich. From what I've seen from Atletico, the team is rock solid.

Given the different resources available at Atletico compared to Real and Barca, Diego Simeone must be one hell of a manager. I hope he stays where he is. It's nice to see the establishment being challenged.

The terrifying thing about that Atlético game for me is that, before the second goal went in, I didn't even think they played that well. They had a period after that when they absolutely blitzed Sociedad and looked very impressive, but for a good hour they looked nervy and didn't have a lot of fluency. If they can play like that, against a very capable side, and still win 4-0, then what the hell might they go and do to AC Milan (who right now I reckon Sociedad could probably beat comfortably) if they play well?
