McIntyre: Wants monkey off his back

A win for Dunfermline on Tuesday night would move them off the bottom of the table.

McIntyre could hand debuts to on-loan Rangers duo Jordan McMillan and Kyle Hutton, while captain Austin McCann and Paul Burns have recovered from injuries.

The Pars are yet to win a home game this season, but with Rangers and Inverness visiting East End Park in the coming weeks, McIntyre is hopeful his team can put such poor form behind them.

"It's about time we got a home win to get the monkey off our back and to stay in the league we have to put a run of results together," McIntyre said.

"There is a big incentive for us to win against Kilmarnock as we would move off the bottom of the league.

"You have to be confident and positive going into a game; we know that Kilmarnock have good players so we will have to be at our best to win the game.

"This season individual errors have been costly and it has been a bit of an Achilles heel. We know it is certainly something that has to be stopped in order for us to put a good run together."

The Pars had a weekend off following their fourth round Scottish Cup exit to Inverness and McIntyre believes the time off has been beneficial, with a practice match against Dundee on Friday giving new signings Hutton and McMillan some much-needed game time.

"We have made good use of the time and managed to fit in a bounce game for the players coming back from injury, so it was a fruitful week," McIntyre added.

"It was also a good chance for Jordan and Kyle to get a chance to settle into the squad too and find out how their new team-mates play."

McIntyre is well aware that his side face a run of fixtures which will be vital in deciding their SPL future and insists the backing of the clubs' fans is more important than ever.

In their last meeting with Kilmarnock, the Pars recorded a surprise 3-0 victory at Rugby Park.

"The supporters have been great this season, the majority come to the home game and have had to endure the run of results," he said.

"As a supporter that's tough to take. I have to say they have been brilliant and we really do need them coming into what is a vital run of fixtures."

t's a bit sad to see Bosingwa leaving after he finally seemed to show some defensive ability when moved to centre back against Barca, but at least we'll be forced to pick up some sort of right fullback as cover. His new haircut seemed to decrease the prominence of the monobrow too.
