Samaras: Wants to maintain momentum

Samaras was perhaps the pick of the bunch on Wednesday night as Neil Lennon's side hammered Hearts 4-0 to go four points clear of Rangers at the top of the SPL.

Goals from skipper Scott Brown, Victor Wanyama, Joe Ledley and Gary Hooper extended Celtic's domestic winning run to 16 games and Samaras is looking to maintain that form and stay ahead of the Light Blues in the title run-in.

"It's all about us," Samaras, 26, told the Celtic View.

"We're here because we had a good run and we want to keep it going.

"We've won games and turned a lot of things round this season and we don't want to take our foot off the gas.

"From the start of November until now we have had some great games and performances and some bad games, which we still managed to win.

"We now have some difficult games but we believe we have the quality to go on and win the next game."

The odds on Celtic winning the treble have shortened in recent weeks with Lennon's side reaching the final of the Scottish Communities League Cup where they will play Kilmarnock at Hampden next month.

Before that, the Hoops travel to Dundee United in the quarter-finals of the Scottish Cup.

The former Manchester City striker admits he is enjoying the hectic period of activity as the season gears up for a frantic finale.

"I prefer to have a game every two or three days - like Saturday, Wednesday, Sunday - because for me, I feel I have a better rhythm," he said.

"The weeks are shorter and you have more games and you don't realise how fast the time is going and you're focused all the time.

"And your mind is always working to be ready for the next game. I prefer that to having six or seven days to prepare to the next game.

"From November until now, our games have been every two or three days, it also shows how fit we are that we have managed to handle this schedule."

Meanwhile, Lennon received another boost with the news that new signing Mikael Lustig, who was suffering from a left hip strain, will return to training next week.

Paul Slane will follow in his tracks a week later and will train with his Celtic team-mates before completing his loan move to MK Dons when he returns to fitness.

t's a bit sad to see Bosingwa leaving after he finally seemed to show some defensive ability when moved to centre back against Barca, but at least we'll be forced to pick up some sort of right fullback as cover. His new haircut seemed to decrease the prominence of the monobrow too.
