The Bosnian international has attracted the attention of some big clubs in England and also abroad.

The Potters' chairman has 'a gut feeling' that Begovic will remain in Staffordshire which could result in a change of scenery for 20-year-old Butland.

Coates told The Sentinel: "We took Jack because we thought we might be approached about Asmir.

"But we would be very happy for him to be playing for us next season.

"If Asmir stays, as we expect, we would try to get Jack to a Premier League or Championship club on loan to build up his experience.

"We believe we've got another very good young keeper waiting in the wings."

As for Begovic, he added: "We've got as good a goalkeeper as there is in the Premier League, better than anyone else I can think of and he will be in demand.

"If the top European clubs come in for him, and the money is good and we are satisfied, we would do it.

"But there's no pressure to sell."

Butland agreed a move to Stoke in January from Birmingham, but spent the second half of the season back on loan at St Andrew's.

ven if United were to sign CR7 & Messi to play upfront, the fact remains Fletcher and Cleverly are playing in midfield. That's where the problem is. Fletcher is too slow with an awful pass, while Cleverly is simply rubbish
