The 25-year-old, who used to play for Manchester United, has only one year left on his current contract with German side Hannover.

However, the Potters are just one of a number of European clubs tracking the Senegal international.

"He is one of the strikers we have registered an interest in," said Coates.

Diouf made only nine appearances for United between 2009 and 2012, scoring one goal, but has scored 25 goals in 49 appearances since moving to the Bundesliga.
