16.11: More confusion, denial and other words like that around the future of David Villa.
You may recall earlier that Barcelona presidente Joan Laporta claimed his club were in talks with Valencia over the striker, but his counterpart has poo-pooed such talk.
"Valencia is not negotiating and has not negotiated with Barcelona, at all," Manuel Llorente told Europa Press.
Llorente does not yet know whether Barca have spoken with Villa and his agent, adding: "That I will find out when I meet people directly."
Could - and actually has already - run and run this one.
16.02: Backing up what his man said himself the other day, Nemanja Vidic's agent has played down suggestion that he will leave the club.
Read all about it here.
15.33: Calm down, relax, you need not panic anymore - Michel Platini has had his say on the Ronaldo guff, which means we can all just pack up and go home now.
"Ronaldo's transfer stood out for me, but if Real have guarantees from the banks...On a personal note, I don't understand how anyone can spend 90million (Euros) on a player. I'm embarrassed," he told L'Equipe.
"But I remember the (Diego) Maradona transfer from Barcelona to Napoli (in 1984). This would be the equivalent of 6.5million and I found that vulgar.
"I think there is something wrong there. I don't like that, and even less given the fact that today players sign contracts only to then go and break them. But as I said if clubs have the money what can I do?"
15.23: Pffft. Seriously. Sod all is happening. Well, other than Darren Ambrose leaving Charlton to sign for Crystal Palace.
14.39: Fulham have confirmed the departure of a few players. As expected Moritz Volz and Collins John have left after their contracts expired, whiel Danish midfielder Leon Andreasen has joined Hannover permanently after spending a time on loan there last season.
14.29: Taking the rather large leap of faith that anyone cares, the news from Celtic today is that Paul Hartley and Jan Venegoor of Hesselink are free to seek alternative employment after neither had their contract renewed.
14.21: Lyon manager Claude Puel has been talking about why Karim Benzema has chosen to leave the club.
"It was an opportunity for Karim and the club has decided to accept his expectation," he told L'Equipe.
"One year before the World Cup he has probably had to think a lot about the situation.
"We have considered the sporting and the economic aspects. We know we are losing a quality player. I believe he has the right weapons for such a challenge."
There really, really isn't much happening today.
14.00: Not much happening today. As can be seen by our first update in 40 minutes being the news that Nened Milijas has been granted a work permit and can thus complete his move to Wolves.
13.20: According to The South London Press (we never miss it) 'Charlton wonderkid Sean McGinty is on the brink of sealing a move to Manchester United'.
And that's after they lost Mark Hudson to Cardiff today. Bad times at the Valley.
13.15: If we reported on every transfer from the Football League we'd not have time to stir up scurrilous gossip from elsewhere, but this one caught our eye this afternoon.
Darlington have presented ten - count 'em - new signings. The men in question are old clogger Dean Windass, Gary Smith, goalkeeper David Knight, Chris Lumsdon, Jeff Smith, Matt Plummer, James Bennett, Lee Thorpe, Ben Starosta and Craig James.
The dudes in the admin department are going to love them. Actually, given their financial state, do they have any dudes in the admin department?
12.34: Looks like Wolves are about to sign another one - they're closing in on the purchase of Greg Halford from Sunderland.
That will make it four clubs (including loans) since leaving Colchester in 2007, and your correspondent can well understand why that is having sworn at him quite loudly while he was at Sheffield United last season.
12.20: A very minor mention of Aston Villa - they have dismissed speculation that they are set to make a move for Wigan central defender Titus Bramble.
11.30: Shock! Horror! Real Madrid have signed a defender. The £13m Raul Albiol has passed his medical will be presented as the Spanish giants' latest addition at the Bernabeu on Thursday evening.
11.09: Staying with Spanish news: It sounds as if Barcelona are in negotiations to sign David Villa from Valencia. Could this be the green light for Man City to nab Samuel Eto'o?
You can read all about it here
10.52: Alex Hleb's agent has said that his client has received ''four or five' offers from England and Germany but that he wants to stay on Barcelona's bench. Except, of course, he doesn't say 'bench'.
10.20: Many will find it tricky to resist the ample charms of Manchester City's wonga this summer, but Ze Roberto appears not to be one of them.
He's just signed for Hamburg, and said: "Money is not the most important thing. I don't have any desire to live in England."
10.19: Quick line from Italy now, and Inter Milan have completed the signing of Thiago Motta from Genoa.
09.14: A confirmed deal for you to get excited about now, and Wigan have completed the signing of Honduran midfielder Hendry Thomas. Those contacts Steve Bruce cultivated are still strong then.
09.03: Depending on whether you believe United really want him, this could be another blow for Alex Ferguson.
Franck Ribery has said he wants to leave Bayern Munich - but only for Real Madrid. Yep, them again.
"I have made up my mind, I want to leave," Ribery told L'Equipe. "It will be Real or nothing."
Click here for more on that one.
08.51: Good news for Obafemi Martins now, who we imagine is putting his feet up somewhere after not turning up for Newcastle training yesterday.
Stoke chairman Peter Coates has told the local rag that they are not interested in signing the Nigerian striker.
"There's nothing in that one" he said.
"We haven't had contact or discussions about him at all. I don't know where the story has come from, but there is no substance to it."
08.48: Interesting stuff in Spanish daily AS, who report that after Karim Benzema became the lastest man to turn his nose up at Manchester United, Sir will turn to Sevilla's Luis Fabiano.
AC Milan are also apparently interested, but have been put off by the 30million Euro buyout clause in his contract. That figure shouldn't be too much of a worry for United.
08.40: Sky Sports' bod Graham Hunter has been speaking from his rooftop in Barcelona this morning, and he claims Real Madrid have David Silva in their sights next.
Also, he reckons that Real are 'tenacious' about securing a deal for Xabi Alonso, and won't give up very easily at all.
08.39: We were greeted with the rather curious sight on Sky Sports News this morning of Darius Vassell being greeted like a conquering hero in Turkey. He's signing for Ankaragucu.
08.22: Morning all, and welcome to another day in the exciting world of transfer rumour and nonsense.
If you missed it last night, Lyon have announced that Karim Benzema is all set to join Real Madrid, thus making a right mess of Alex Ferguson's plans for the summer.
