Kevin Phillips' 21st goal of the season helped West Brom claim a point in a 1-1 draw at Charlton which kept Albion in the hunt for automatic promotion from the Championship.
Charlton had taken the lead in the 30th minute when Greg Halford scored his first goal for the club since he arrived on loan from Sunderland.
Darren Ambrose floated in a free-kick and Halford rose highest to guide his header past the despairing dive of former Addicks goalkeeper Dean Kiely and into the bottom corner.
But Phillips equalised for Tony Mowbray's side 11 minutes later with a trademark finish to secure a valuable point.
Zoltan Gera nodded Jonathan Greening's free-kick into the path of Phillips, who controlled the ball in an instant and smashed it past Nicky Weaver and in off the underside of the crossbar.
The result at The Valley lifted the Baggies ahead of Hull on goal difference and up to fourth place while Alan Pardew's side climb to eighth.
West Brom boss Mowbray insisted after the game his side will keep trying to play their way out of the Championship.
"This league is full of competitive football teams that go out of their way to stop other teams playing.
"It is hard to win matches but I feel the right way of playing is to score goals and entertain the public.
"I'm quite jealous of Charlton's squad list - they have a wonderful squad of players so for us to come here and dominate from start to finish is very good."
Charlton manager Pardew was disappointed that his strikers had once again failed to get on the scoresheet.
"We are looking for our strikers to score goals, because you need them in form if you want to get promoted, and unfortunately we just can't get a goal from that position.
"We were desperate for a win today, no-one more so than myself. I thought it was a good game, it ebbed and flowed and a draw was probably a fair result
