Manchester was full of Scotsman on Wednesday but the airport was full of spotters desperate to see some rare Russian planes.
Zenit St Petersburg's presence in the UEFA Cup final against Rangers meant that there were unfamiliar Russian planes carrying football fans arriving at the airport all day.
The aviation viewing area was full by 9.00am after all car passes (costing £10 each) were sold out days before.
At least 600 people watched the planes arriving from their cars while pedestrian spotters were charged £2 but had to ensure lengthy queues to see the aeroplanes land.
