Cesc Fabregas has urged boss Arsene Wenger to buy David Villa this summer.
The Spaniard was asked at the filming of 'The Cesc Fàbregas Show: Nike Live' which player he would most like to see at Arsenal this summer and he answered without hesitation: "Villa.
"We are very good friends. I think Villa would be very good for Arsenal," he said.
Also at the event was boss Wenger, who has previously denied making an approach for the Valencia player.
He is likely to cost around £25m, which could pretty much blow Wenger's transfer budget for the summer.
Villa himself has made it pretty clear that he fancies a move to the Emirates, saying last month: "I watch the Premier League a lot and the team I'm most attracted to is definitely Arsenal. Their brilliant one and two-touch football and the whole style of rapid counter-attack which dominates the top level of the Premier League now is the one which suits my game best of all."

"If I was Arsene Wenger I would send Bendtner away on loan again and see how he goes. He may have scored some important goals but he missed a few sitters (Like that open goal at Anfield, got in the way of Fabregas in the CL 1/4 Final). He simply doesnt have the ability to be a potent striker at the top level. Also I wouldnt be surprised if RVP is used as a left winger next season with Rosicky so injury prone. So bring in Villa I say, He was rated at 50 mil once upon a time so 25 mil aint that bad."

"Scottygooner is spot on. Wenger will obviously not go for Villa and certainly not buy Yaya as he would feel like a fool knowing he could have had him for peanuts when he came to trial at Arsenal before Yaya joined Olympiakos then for £7million before he joined Monaco. I can see Arsene going for Richard Dunne also or possibly spend a little to get hold of Distin or Jagielka. He must now be looking for 2 midfielders as Flamini left or possibly 3 if Gilberto leaves. These are more likely to come from overseas. I have a feeling he may raid Spain and possibly benefit from Valencia's horrible season but not for one of their big players! "

"David Villa? Its a nice thought but one that is unlikely to happen I would guess. Apart from the likelihood that he will be off to Real Madrid or Barca this Summer and that he will be too expensive for Arsenal, I cannot see a well established striker coming in when we have RvP, Ade, Bendtner, hopefull Eddie in the new year and Theo (although Wenger has said he will be used mainly on the wings again this year). Furthermore we have Carlos Vela coming over from Spain this Summer and I would not be surprised if Wenger brings Jay Simpson into the squad (although probably for Carling Cup duties at first) as he has been voted Div 1 player of the year whilst on loan at Millwall. Wenger has already been quoted (whether accurately or not I don't know) as saying he will only bring in one or two players - a creative midfield player and a centre-half - which would reinforce the unlikelihood of a new striker coming in. As to who the midfielder and defender might be I don't know - rarely does Wenger actually buy the players that are rumoured in the press. Interestingly he has suggested that he will look to buy a player established in the premier league and another from abroad - so I think Micah Richards could be a possibility. Midfielder? Ribery would be nice but again extremely unlikely whilst Ben Arfa has been mentioned and he is a decent young player. But these are both pre-dominantly wide players and with the knowledge that Walcott will be on the wing and unfortunately Eboue staying I think it unlikely that we will get a winger. In addition hopefully Hleb will stay for at least one more year and Rosicky will be fit. So with this in mind I think we will go for a player like Nasri from Marseille or Moutinho from Sporting - both excellent young attacking midfielders. "

"It'd be nice if we could inject investment ONLY (no buy-out) from Kroenke to help with players of Villa's caliber. Problem is who would you drop? i personally think that Bentner's a cracking player, great in the air etc, but is he good enough for the very top top level? as frustrating as it can be Wenger will get it right whatever he decides, i can't see the like of Toure coming in either, though i feel Richard Dunne is a cert."

"We have Walcott, who's still growing into the role, VanP who's suddenly made of glass this year, and Adebayor who stops scoring whenever he cuts his hair. I'd welcome another striker, and I'd welcome Villa."
