FERGIE THE KEY FOR RONALDO

Cristiano Ronaldo has hinted he will not leave Manchester United while manager Sir Alex Ferguson remains at the club.

Ronaldo starred as United retained their Premier League crown this season and the winger has also helped the Red Devils to Wednesday's Champions League final against Chelsea.

His scintillating form has led to repeated rumours Real Madrid are considering a record-breaking £100million attempt to lure Ronaldo away from Old Trafford this summer.

Ronaldo recently announced that a career in Spain would appeal in the future, but the Portugal international has now dropped the strongest suggestion yet he will remain in England until United boss Ferguson decides to retire.

Ronaldo, who joined United in 2003 in a £12million move from Sporting Lisbon, told the News of the World: "The boss is the reason I am here in the club.

"He helped me a lot, not just this season but the seasons before.

"I feel very good at the club. I want to carry on like that. I have many friends here in the club.

"I have been at the club five years and I know everyone now - the staff, the players - and I feel like this is my home."

Ahead of United's Moscow meeting with Chelsea, it has been suggested that Ronaldo fails to deliver in big games as he has been unable to find the back of the net in nine outings against the Blues.

But Ronaldo - who was voted the Professional Footballers' Association and the Football Writers' Association Player of the Year - has rubbished the speculation, adding: "I am the best.

"I am very happy with my season. I scored 31 league goals. I don't need to show anything to anyone. I won every award. I need to prove nothing.

"When I hear it said that I do not play well against the big teams, it does not annoy me because I know I am the best"
