Robinho: Chelsea target

AGENT - ROBINHO DEAL CLOSE

Posted 26/08/08 07:59

Chelsea could be set to sign Robinho after the Brazilian's agent revealed his Real Madrid career was about to end.

The Blues have been tracking Robinho for much of the summer and lodged a bid with Real earlier this month.

Real were initially keen to keep the 24-year and Chelsea were not willing to match their lofty valuation.

However, Robinho recently admitted he was desperate to leave the Bernabeu and secure a move to Chelsea, and Real responded by saying they would let him leave.

Robinho has been warned he may have to pay to terminate his contract, but agent Wagner Ribeiro expects the matter to be resolved before the close of the transfer window.

"The deal is about to be reached," Ribeiro said in the Daily Mirror.

"Robinho's cycle in Spain has come to an end and he is looking forward to a new project."

Reports suggest that Robinho will travel to London this week to discuss personal terms ahead of a proposed £28million move.

"There were quite a few mercenaries at Chelsea, I wouldn't go all the way to claiming everyone at Chelsea is there for the money, but when you've been offered that kind of money, it's hard to turn down.. United had a gap to fill when Keane left, Ballack could have walked into that spot no bother, but he chose to go to a Chelsea team, full of midfield talent, and I'd imagine the paycheck had a lot to do with it... he's still a great player but money surely had a big sway over it considering it was probably the last big deal of his career"

"I really dont get all of this history talk by Liverpool and Man u fans, surley the history of a club is about more than wining the top league, it can be about getting promotion from the 3rd divison, surviving another relegation battle or simply having a once great player playing for your team, to suggest a team doesnt have a history purley because they havent won the top divison 15 times is pretty insulting to the majority of teams throughout the english league "

"thoromir i am sorry to get personal but you are an idiot. "

"thoromir, wow you really do exacerbate your point. let me put it nice and simple for you. 1: Chelsea don¿t have a big history [All history has to start at a point, regardless of how it started], you can¿t hold it against them...It¿s really makes no sense. I think jealousy is key here. 2: Chelsea can afford to pay high salaries [They have the money to blow, how that is a negative thing? all players get paid ridiculously high wages anyway, is Chelsea¿s that much more really worth mentioning?] Players coming to Chelsea ONLY for money?? Don¿t be retarded. What if chelsea sold chicken and watermelon..and made billions and then bought the players..Would that change the scenario at all for you? They came for the opportunity to play in the premiership? The opportunity to earn higher wages?, the opportunity to play in one of the best teams in the world? There are many factors, yet you choose which are most convenient for you.. Grow up buddy. "

"Robiniho would be an awesome signing for chelsea, a player any coach would have wet dreams about. His willingness to come to chelsea is mearly an indication of what chelsea is achieving[puting aside his potential salary/and the scolari factor]. And ffs, yes..chelsea dont as big a history as other clubs do.. and yes they have more money!! But if those are the only grounds you idiots have for hating chelsea, i really, really , advise growing up, and aknowledging chelsea as the superpower they are. And i suggest you "chelsea haters", take a look at your own clubs, what % of your clubs are owned by foreign businessmen?? I guarentree you will be suprised."

"Thormir you are right, and there was no need for me to use expletives in my response to your tunnel vision comment that Chelsea are the only club employing mercenaries. I had forgotton that football fans are in the main, a highly intellectual cross section of the UKs population who respond far better to well thought out and insightful dialect rather than straight to the point direct and harsh comments and for that i apologise. I'll be sure to pick up my copy of the FT next time im at Stamford Bridge then listen to Radio 4 on my way home. So let me rationally point out the errors in your comments and why they deserved such a response. Out of the players you named only Sheva came purely for cash. You could argue that with Ballack but he wnted to win the CL before he retires so had to choose us, Madrid, Barca or Utd. Robinho is clearly tempted by increasing his pay packet bt that is far from the only reason he appears to be on his way. The others you named were just complete rubbish. "ALL of the signing since Abramovich's reign are MERCENARIES!!!!" - thats utter one sided tosh too. "WHY do you think they went to a club like chelsea???" - well dont you think being the best 2 teams in the league & arguably having the most attractive location in the league helps? Just a bit??? It is one sided haters drivel that winds me up so why not stick up for and support your team. You appear to be one of these "we hate chelsea people" born purely out of jealousy, who has nothing worth saying about their own club so they pick what they perceive as an easy target so the mass populous will agree with them, thus making themselves feel accepted, correct and part of something, and its opinionless personalityless band wagon jumpers in your mould that wind me up. For further examples see LauzyLoz. But i do apologise if i caused offense, coz in the main c*nts are pretty nice really."

LauzyLoz

"Get a grip Siminco. At least now Deco can take your pathetic captains place in the penalty spot. Your rant almost made me throw up in my mouth. "

thoromir

"siminco so i'm a womans vagina is it? I think someone should have studied a bit harder at biology. anyway why is it that on every forum people have to express themselves with expletives? are you seriously lacking the word power that you can't construct a sentence without using a curse word? i bet it took you all morning to construct the sentence "wait with baited breath" and i can just imagine the smugness with which you typed it into your keyboard. And why get personal? what have i done to you siminco only pointed out the blatantly obvious about the team you clearly passionately support! I must have touched a nerve or do you always greet people by telling them to F off and calling them c*nts! i know it's pointless even writing a response to your comment as you'll just come back with twice the nonsense you had before but what the hell i'm bored. "
