Newcastle United interim manager Joe Kinnear has revealed there is a possibility Mark Viduka could be forced to undergo a second operation on his troublesome Achilles injury.
The Australia striker has been sidelined since May with the problem and underwent surgery over the summer in a bid to resolve the matter.
But Kinnear has confirmed Viduka will travel to Australia for a second opinion, amid claims in Friday's press that he could be facing a further six months out if it is decided he needs another operation.
"We know there's a chance Mark will need surgery which isn't good news," said Kinnear in The Sun.
"He's had a scan but wants a second opinion - and so do our medical people - so he's gone to Australia to get one.
"We'll know more when he comes back so all we can do is wait."

"What would you like him to do fraserdees? Hang around and play on one leg??? Hardly a sicknote - it's a legitimate injury"
