Rafa Benitez - wants six wins out of six.

RAFA TARGETS SIX WINS OUT OF SIX

Posted 21/04/09 07:35

Rafa Benitez has challenged Liverpool to win all their remaining games in their bid for title glory.

The Reds are just a point behind Manchester United at the top having played a game more.

And they can return to the summit, for 24 hours at least, if they overcome an injury-hit Arsenal at Anfield tonight.

Benitez though is already looking at the rest of the run-in facing his side, and knows they could need maximum points to pip United to the title.

"For us the important thing is to do our job, to prepare properly for every game and look to take three points from each of them," he told Liverpool's official website.

"If we do that and then still can't win the league then there's nothing else we can do. It still depends on United, but we have to keep the pressure on them. If we win tonight then we go back to the top and put them under more pressure for tomorrow night.

"Hopefully the other teams around us are distracted by the Champions League. When you are playing in two massive competitions it can be difficult and so we have to be ready if other teams make a mistake."

Liverpool have had a week to rest since that heartbreaking Champions League exit at the hands of Chelsea.

But Benitez says his team have recovered well both mentally and physically from their breathless 4-4 draw at Stamford Bridge, which saw them eliminated 7-5 on aggregate.

"When you lose games it can be difficult but the way we lost it wasn't too bad. We played well, scored four goals at Stamford Bridge and so I am sure our confidence hasn't been affected.

"The players have trained really well and yesterday's session was fantastic. The atmosphere among them is really good and I feel we are in a good moment."

"So good start then?"

"Oops, i don't think so rafa....... although in fairness, i am writing this at 10:30pm! Come on United, lets put it to bed now."

kenbush

"el-nino, ah please forgive me! do you think the pool will get a result tonite? i was thinking it wud be a hard game, untill i found out theres about 5 or 6 arsenal players injured! typical"

"HAHAHHAHAH 6 WINS??? HAHAHAHAHHHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHAHHA"

"Really big game tonight. Arsenal have a lot to prove this season and with Cesc, Eduardo and Arshavin back they have a strong side in attack. Liverpool simply havr to win in order to keep the pressure on Man Utd. I'm hoping and praying that Arsenal will get a draw at least but I fear that Liverpool might have too much for them tonight. Arsenals record at Anfield in recent years isn't great. A draw is the best they can hope for."

felderkirk

"Haha arsene_knows - I haven't quite got that far just yet! I still reckon that there's something to this superstition of mine though. It's uncanny! I'm dreading the Hull game! Tonight should be a cracker alright. I must admit that I was relieved when I saw your 2 strikers were missing the game, but the replacements are absolute class. And I also think that our defense has never really had to deal with players of that kind of guile and vision regularly enough for Liverpool fans to consider this an easy ride. It could be like playing Barcelona to a certain extent - neat passing and quick, shorter players. Whatever happens, it'll be bloody interesting."

"Don't believe any of this stuff about Arsenal letting people win. Do you remember 1995 - well probably a few of you were kids. But if you don't, then let me remind you. Blackburn came to Anfield needing a point to win the title - only if United couldn't win at West Ham. Liverpool scored in the last minute with a cracking free kick to make the score 2-1 that would have meant United would be champions if they could beat West Ham. In the end they couldn't. But all the headlines before the game were that the scousers wouldn't let United win the title and would lie down etc. It didn't happen. Pros are honest in the English game and Arsenal will be up for it tonight. Make no mistake."

""KenBush, i just thought i should remind you, you gave out hell about about liverpool supporters ocommenting on utd storys, what are you doing on RAFA TARGETS SIX WINS OUT OF SIX ?

You are a dress wearing hippocrate of the highest order and its open day on man ure threads from now on.

And as for your comment on the thread "we'll concontrate on the footy!" you better remind your manager of that cause all he seems to be doing is talking about liverpool/rafa/fat sam you might have got to the fa cup final if he had thought about football instead of running his mouth off (kinda like you) long may he continue his 'mind games' with himself cuase with the kind of crap he's coming out with nobody is listening."

PS. the problem with the pitch fergie is going on about is that is was to big for berbatov, he doesn't like to run about much, you could see the strain he was under running from the edge of the box to the peno spot.

So ken(george)bush you might be laughing at 6 wins but we are all laughing at £30 million you're never going to see again, and the bills (over 600 million) are due soon, aren't they ? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAH"

arsene_knows

"Dont get me wrong, tonight will be an awesome game between the teams from the so called big 4 that have any morals, but dont rule out some kidology from Arsenal.

If Liverpool win tonght, the the pressure is even more intense on Man U to win all their remaining games, and Liverpool would be top.

Obvious I know but this would not give Ferguson any chance of resting players for the CL semi final. So as weird as it sounds to say this, would it be to Arsenals advantage if Liverpool won? I think it might. Or perhaps I'm just getting my excuses for tomorrow ready. Good luck to all.

Oh BTW Felderkirk, Arsenal fans used to think that we were jinxed any time a game of ours was shown on TV!!!! that was a few years ago though"

rafamuggin

"I'm scared stiff tonight. Eduardo is a cracking player as is Arshavin, and if our belief is anything to go by in recent weeks, we'll go for it and maybe leave ourselves open at the back. BUT, I do feel our team have matched the mood of the fans this year. Disbelief at being top and not capitalizing in games in hand. Terror and anguish as United closed and then passed us. Acceptance the dream was over for another year, only to say "what the hell" and beat United on their own patch. That belief has led to every game since (Villa, Fulham, Blackburn) and arguably the Chelsea games, of "we can do this". I really think that's how fans and the team think. And if we fall short then so be it. But the belief is that if we keep winning then United just cannot continue to get results - because whether you like it or not, they are not playing well enough. And that's why Fergie is coming out with all this stuff with Big Sam. He is terrified it might become 19-17 in titles and he'll have to stay on at least another 3 years to knock us off our perch..."
