Wigan assistant manager Graeme Jones has backed striker Jason Scotland to be successful in the Barclays Premier League.
Scotland, like Jones and Latics boss Roberto Martinez, is set to make his top-flight debut in just over a fortnight.
The Trinidad and Tobago international scored 53 goals in 102 appearances at Swansea and former Swans boss Martinez wasted no time in ensuring he was reunited with the player soon after taking over at the DW Stadium.
Jones was also Martinez's assistant at the Liberty Stadium and he has seen enough of the 30-year-old to believe he can have an impact on the top flight.
"There is no-one who knows Jason like me; I know what sort of character and player he is," he said.
"I don't worry about Jason playing in the Premier League. He's always had Premier League ability, that is why he has got so many goals in the previous two leagues.
"He has a talent that any defender will struggle to look after at any given moment in a game."
Jones has been integral in helping Martinez get across to the squad his vision for playing football.
Although it has been an eye-opener for players who were well-drilled on being hard to beat under former boss Steve Bruce, Jones believes the message has got through.
"I think initially it was a bit challenging for them and it is still challenging - as it should be," he told Latics Player.
"The old style of play to new style of play is significant in its changes."
