John Hughes left the Bairns in the summer and is keen to halt his former side's revival after their draw with Celtic and first league win of the season over Hamilton. Hughes makes three changes, one enforced, with Kevin McBride failing to recover from an ankle injury and John Rankin comes in. Lewis Stevenson and Abdessalam Benjelloun also drop to the bench from the side that drew at St Mirren, with Merouane Zemmama and Colin Nish restored. Falkirk are unchanged from the success against Accies after new signing Toufik Zerara, the French midfielder, failed to receive international clearance in time. Alex MacDonald returns from a groin injury to be named among the substitutes.

Striker Jonatan Johansson is rewarded for his late winner in the capital with another place on the bench. Hamilton make one change of their own from the side which allowed Falkirk to drag them to within a point of the foot of the table with a 2-0 defeat to the Bairns last weekend. Full-back Trent McClenahan drops down to the bench and is replaced by fellow defender David Elebert. Skipper Alex Neil retains his place after making his first start of the campaign against Falkirk, with midfielder Guillaume Beuzelin named amongst the replacements after serving a one-match suspension.

Mehdi Taouil and Steven Old join him in the starting line-up, in place of the benched Manuel Pascali and Gavin Skelton, who drop out of the squad. Both struggling sides, starting the game just one point apart in ninth and tenth places, know that defeat coupled with results elsewhere could see them end the weekend at the bottom of the table.
