Scunthorpe manager Nigel Adkins is set to rotate his squad for the trip to Barnsley which could see midfielder Sam Togwell line up against his former club.
Togwell, who spent two seasons with Barnsley before leaving last year, lost his spot to Martyn Woolford for Sunday's victory over Coventry but could be back in for the Tykes clash.
"It will be very much a case of horses for courses, said Adkins. "There are all sorts of things we will look at.
"Togs has been bombing forward really well, but, if anything, taking up some of the space that strikers Paul Hayes and Gary Hooper utilise very well."
Garry Thompson could also benefit from the changes and the winger was unlucky not to start at the weekend.
Joe Murphy remains doubtful after the goalkeeper was stretchered off in the first-half with a knee injury at the weekend and Josh Lillis should again deputise after keeping Scunthorpe's first clean sheet in 13 games.
Barnsley striker Andy Gray faces a late fitness test.
Summer signing Gray, who stepped off the substitutes' bench to fire Barnsley's 88th-minute winner from the penalty spot at Blackpool on Saturday, is struggling with a slight groin strain.
But manager Mark Robins will be boosted by the return of midfielder Nathan Doyle, on loan from Hull, who missed the 2-1 weekend win through suspension.
Robins has no other new injury or suspension problems and apart from Gray has a fully-fit squad to choose from.
Gray, Jamal Campbell-Ryce and Iain Hume appeared as second-half substitutes on Saturday and Robins revealed they all staked their claims for a return to the starting line-up.
The Tykes are unbeaten in their last four league games and have won six out of their last eight to climb to within six points of a play-off spot.
