Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp believes video technology would have prevented Robbie Keane returning to his club dejected this week following Republic of Ireland's controversial World Cup exit.
Keane's goal looked to have sent the play-off with France to penalties until Thierry Henry's "handball" helped guide Les Bleus to South Africa for next year's tournament.
"We're watching it on TV and can see in seconds that it is a handball," Redknapp said.
"The fourth official is standing there stopping people standing a yard outside the technical area. He could be watching the screen for vital decisions.
"Not every decision but vital ones and it would only take seconds. We've put a man on the moon and we can't see if the ball has hit a hand. And it's not going to stop the flow of the game.
"Maybe like in tennis where they have three or four appeals per match. It was so blatantly obvious and unfortunately the human error has cost Ireland."
Redknapp credited Keane with playing a vital role in helping Spurs avoid relegation last season after he returned to the club after an unhappy six months with Liverpool.
So the Spurs boss wanted his skipper to be rewarded with a place at the World Cup, joining the likes of Honduran Wilson Palacios and Cameroon pair Sebastien Bassong and Benoit Assou-Ekotto at the tournament.
Keane will want to take his anger out on Wigan this Sunday in the Barclays Premier League clash at White Hart Lane - if he is mentally and physically ready to play.
"Robbie's been working with the fitness guy, having a stretch and a massage," Redknapp said.
"It was a tough game, with extra-time as well.
"It was disappointing to see. They worked so hard and played so well. To go out of the World Cup to such a disputed goal, an obvious handball, must have been a massive disappointment."
There have been calls for a replay, but Redknapp added: "It's impossible to replay the game. It was the wrong decision but you employ the best referees for the best games. It was almost impossible to miss the handball but they managed to miss it."
Centre-back Ledley King will miss the Wigan game with a hamstring problem, while Luka Modric is still out after a fractured leg, despite initially being ruled out for only six weeks at the time of the injury.
"It's been slower than expected with Luka, it's already been twice the time we expected," Redknapp said.
"He's a little while away from being fit enough. We're desperate to get him fit but we can't rush him."
