Barnsley

Foster - should be okay

FOSTER SHOULD BE PASSED FIT

Barnsley skipper Stephen Foster is expected to be passed fit for the visit of Newcastle on Saturday despite sustaining a cut eye in midweek.

The Tykes defender was replaced by Darren Moore at half-time in Wednesday night's 1-1 home draw with Scunthorpe following an accidental collision, but the 29-year-old is keen to play.

Foster's injury required six stitches and if he fails to make it Moore will continue alongside on-loan Stoke defender Ryan Shotton at the heart of defence.

Tykes manager Mark Robins has no new injury or suspension problems, but has several selection dilemmas for the visit of Chris Hughton's league leaders.

Robins revealed he was resting Daniel Bogdanovic when replacing the Malta international with Iain Hume against Scunthorpe, while Jamal Campbell-Ryce, Andy Gray - who has shaken off a groin strain - and Emil Hallfredsson are all pushing for recalls.

Newcastle striker Andy Carroll will return to the Magpies squad for the Championship trip.

The 20-year-old was left out of Wednesday's 2-0 win at Coventry, which sent the Magpies seven points clear at the top of the Championship, following his arrest over an allegation of assault during the early hours of Monday morning.

However, manager Chris Hughton has confirmed Carroll will be included in the travelling party as he competes for a place with Shola Ameobi and Nile Ranger, who both scored at the Ricoh Arena, and Marlon Harewood and Peter Lovenkrands, who started in partnership against Watford last Saturday.

Ameobi, who played in midweek for the first time since the end of August after overcoming a foot injury, suffered no reaction and will be available again.

Hughton has only one absentee in midfielder Joey Barton, who remains on target to make a comeback from a foot problem towards the end of January.
