Coventry boss Chris Coleman warned Coca-Cola Championship rivals that his star striker Freddy Eastwood has plenty more to offer after a man-of-the- match performance at Barnsley.
Summer signing Eastwood scored and then made Coventry's second goal as they maintained their 100% record with a 2-1 away win.
Coleman said of Eastwood: "He'd done everything but score up to today. He's that little bit extra special, he's brought something we hadn't possessed in the squad.
"He can create a goal at nothing. If you've got that you've always got the edge.
"He's almost like a cult hero already as he was at Southend and Wolves. There's plenty more to come from him."
Coventry went ahead in the first half through a 25-yard shot from Eastwood.
Elliott Ward then hit the post with a header before Barnsley skipper Brian Howard equalised two minutes before the break.
Coventry's winner came from Julian Grey after some brilliant build-up play by Eastwood.
Barnsley ended the game with 10 men after Iain Hume was sent off on his home debut for two bookable offences.
Coleman had words of consolation for Barnsley who have now lost three in a row.
"We got stronger and stronger as the game went on," the Coventry manager said.
"I think Barnsley are a good team, I watched them against QPR and Crewe they lost but they played good football.
"Manager Simon Davey has brought some good players to this club. Coming into this game we knew it was going to be hard.
"In the second half we started better. We stopped making individual errors, our passing was better and we are delighted to come here and get three points. Teams will come here and lose points.
"It's always been a difficult place to come. They've got a good record here. Once they've settled they'll be a decent team."
Davey was bitterly disappointed to suffer the defeat.
He said: "In the first half there was only one team in it and Coventry scored against the run of play.
"We managed to get back in the game but one long ball and a bit of magic from Freddy Eastwood has undone us.
"So I am disappointed to lose the game but there are a lot of positives for us. I think we are a good side, we just need to start putting chances away."
Barnsley were refused a penalty in the first half when Clinton Morrison appeared to handle the ball but the visitors were instead given a free-kick which was awarded against defender Darren Moore.
Davey declared: " It should have been a spot-kick. There was no nudge from Darren,
"Morale is high at Barnsley. The dressing room is fine, they're disappointed they lost today but they know they're a good side.
"You don't perform like they did in the first half and think that you are a bad team. The performance level was good. We have to take that on the next game.
