Roy Keane has thanked the Sunderland board for their support this summer as he prepares to enter talks over a new deal.
Keane was eager to strengthen his squad after keeping the Black Cats in the Premier League last season and chairman Niall Quinn made funds available for transfers.
The manager feels the future is bright for the club and has indicated that he would be willing to put pen-to-paper on a new agreement.
"I have a year left but I have been delighted with the backing I have received in the transfer market," Keane said in The People.
"I'm also delighted with who I have brought into my backroom staff. Niall has been very good with that. They have given me great support.
"I am very happy and the club is making good progress."
