Djibril Cisse is determined to persuade Sunderland boss Roy Keane his long-term future lies with the Black Cats.
The 27-year-old former Auxerre and Liverpool striker marked his debut in fine style with a precious winner at Tottenham on Saturday after coming off the substitutes' bench.
Cisse, who completed a season-long loan move to the Stadium of Light from Marseille late last week, is now intent upon re-establishing himself in the Barclays Premier League and winning a permanent move.
He said: "I want to do my best and try to make it permanent.
"I had a few options, but I chose Sunderland because of the manager. The club has big ambitions and really good players.
"I feel like I have a point to prove because I think I can do really well in the Premier League and show people I can score goals in this division.
"The way I play my game, I think I am made for England."
Cisse struck just seven minutes from time at White Hart Lane after replacing opening goalscorer Kieran Richardson, resuming his partnership with former Liverpool team-mate El-Hadji Diouf.
He later revealed that the Senegal international had helped to make up his mind when he was presented with the chance to head for Wearside.
Cisse told the Sunderland Echo: "El-Hadji called me. He had a few words with me and said the ambition at the club is good, so I said, 'Good'.
"It's a good, lively forward line with me and El-Hadji - and don't forget about (Kenwyne) Jones as well, and plenty of other players who are quality.
"Nobody expects Sunderland to be a good team, but I know the boys now and we want to show people that we are a good club and that we can go and do well.
"We can surprise a lot of teams, like we did against Tottenham.
"It was a surprise for me to score on my debut and I was very happy for the guys, for the manager and for the people who support me.
"But I think we deserved the win. We played well, we always tried to play football and we fought against Tottenham, who are a good team."
Cisse's contribution was hailed by Diouf, who knows better than most just what he is capable of after their time together at Anfield.
He said: "Djibril will be one of the top scorers in the Premier League, I know it.
"It is great for him to be at Sunderland and great for the Premier League to have him.
"This is the world's best league and he can show everyone now how good he is."
Meanwhile, Keane was today awaiting news of his approach for West Ham defender Anton Ferdinand.
Hammers boss Alan Curbishley, who insisted on Friday that he did not want to lose Ferdinand, has confirmed that the Black Cats have had a bid, understood to be in the region of £8million, accepted.
Now it remains for Keane and chairman Niall Quinn to sell their vision to the 23-year-old, who has rejected a new deal at Upton Park.
One of the men already persuaded by Keane has quickly learnt that the manager will not be crossed.
Pascal Chimbonda is understood to have been dropped for Saturday's game after turning up late for a pre-match stroll at the team hotel.
