Sevilla new boy Didier Zokora believes the club have what it takes to challenge Spanish giants Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Zokora had been Sevilla's top summer target and they finally got their man last week after agreeing a fee with Tottenham for the midfielder.
The Ivory Coast international, who has signed a four-year deal at the club, has set his sights on helping Sevilla to their first league title since 1946.
"I am happy because Sevilla are a good club, this is a good city and I hope to have a good season," he said. "Sevilla are one of the best teams in Spain.
"I am thinking of getting as far as possible in the Champions League and winning La Liga.
"Barcelona and Real Madrid have good players, but I am ambitious and I believe we can fight with them."
Sporting director Ramon Rodriguez Verdejo was delighted to have secured Zokora's signature and feels the 28-year-old will help make their midfield a formidable force.
"We made a great effort because he was the player we wanted," he said. "We believe that with the excellent midfielders we have, he will give us an important boost.
"He will bring us muscle, work and strength in midfield. With what we have we will shape an excellent midfield."
