Rennes president Frederic de Saint-Sernin has called for an end to the Jimmy Briand transfer saga.
Briand revealed at the beginning of July that he felt "betrayed" by his club after they blocked his transfer to Paris St Germain, claiming he had an agreement with his employers that he could leave if PSG firmed up their interest with a bid.
The 22-year-old even threatened to quit football rather than remain at Rennes. However, De Saint-Sernin claims it is the capital outfit who are putting the brakes on a deal.
"I want this soap opera to finish as soon as possible," he told French sports daily L'Equipe. "It has lasted too long.
"It's two months ago since PSG began contact with Jimmy and a little bit less time with us. The negotiations aren't moving forward. PSG are making them last longer."
De Saint-Sernin confirmed Rennes are now eager to offload Briand as the forward is refusing to train with his team-mates and watched Saturday's 1-0 victory over Simferopol in the Intertoto Cup from the stands.
"Our player is under contract," he added. "We pay him and we can't use him.
"Rennes deserve to be respected. I want to be able to count on a player who is under contract and who I pay.
"I find that PSG pay little attention to the official competitions that we have to play."
Reports in France suggest PSG have upped their offer to eight million euros plus youngster Larrys Mabiala but, while Rennes have dropped their original 12million euro price-tag, they insist they will not let one of France's most promising strikers go for less than 10million.
