Frederic Nimani's second-half header earned Monaco an opening-day victory over Paris St Germain in Ligue 1 on Saturday.
The 19-year-old struck with just 11 minutes left, capping an impressive debut by guiding a superb header into the corner following Camel Meriem's left-wing cross.
The scoreline was a touch harsh on the visitors, who created the better of the chances throughout, striker Guillaume Hoarau wasting the best of them.
Boasting experienced summer recruits Claude Makelele and Ludovic Giuly in midfield, PSG bossed possession in a low-key first half.
Monaco were not helped by two of their defenders, Adriano and Leandro Cufre, going off injured in the opening 15 minutes and they were comfortably second best.
Hoarau, another close-season recruit by PSG, dragged his shot wide from the angle in the 19th minute while strike partner Fabrice Pancrate shot straight at home goalkeeper Stephane Ruffier from 25 yards.
A floated cross by right-back Ceara almost embarrassed a back-pedalling Ruffier just before half-time but the ball just missed the far post.
The game opened up a bit in the second half and Monaco finally showed an attacking edge.
Young striker Nimani fired wide then straight at Mickael Landreau in the space of 60 seconds after good work by Camel Meriem.
At the other end, Ruffier produced a smart save, tipping away a fierce effort from the lively Hoarau.
Hourau, the top scorer last season for Ligue 2 champions Le Havre, volleyed just wide from a deep centre by Pancrate before Nimani netted the winner.
Again it was Meriem who was the provider from the left, Nimani peeling off his marker before sending a looping header over Landreau into the far corner.
