Chu Young Park and substitute Frederic Nimani were on target for Monaco on Saturday night as the principality club defeated Lorient to extend their guests' winless streak in Ligue 1 to four games.
Park got Ricardo's team up and running at the Stade Louis II with the opener after 25 minutes and Nimani made the points safe at the same stage of the second period.
The result sees Monaco move up six places to sixth after five Ligue 1 matches, while the Brittany club slip a place to 17th.
The hosts mustered the first chance of the match after 15 minutes with a well-worked free-kick taken by Camel Meriem on the left, which goalkeeper Fabien Audard punched away with both fists.
Monaco did not have to wait too long for the opener, though, with Park racing onto a long ball and slotting a neat shot past Audard.
Kevin Gameiro had a good opportunity to restore parity eight minutes before the interval, but saw his effort deflected wide by Dario Simic.
Nineteen-year-old forward Nimani was introduced in the 66th minute and took barely five minutes to make his mark on the match, dribbling around Audard before firing into the empty net.
Monaco could have added gloss to the scoreline 14 minutes from time when goalscorers Park and Nimani combined, but the latter's shot was blocked by Audard.
The home team had done enough, however, to earn the three points and leave Lorient without a win since the opening weekend of the season.
