Nantes coach Elie Baup will discuss his future with the club's board after Saturday's season-ending clash at home to Auxerre.
Les Canaris, in 19th place, are almost guaranteed to be relegated, as 17th-placed Caen are three points ahead and have a vastly superior goal difference.
"For the moment, I am still manager until the end of the season," Baup told L'Equipe. "I will have discussions with my bosses after the game against Auxerre.
"I always enjoy being a coach, it's like a drug.
"But for the first time in my career, I have failed in my mission. Next year, if I am in charge, anything is possible.
"People don't realise how being a coach is exhausting, psychologically and physically."
Defender Jean-Jacques Pierre will make his 100th appearance for Nantes and said: "To play 100 matches in the same shirt is extraordinary on Saturday. But it's difficult to celebrate it after the season we've had."
Baup has a number of injuries to contend with so has brought Erwin Zelazny, Aristotle Lusinga and Sofiane Hanni into the squad.
Auxerre have nothing to play for on Saturday as they cannot move up nor down from eighth place.
AJA have been boosted by both Stephane Grichting and Benoit Pedretti signing contract extensions this week.
Denmark midfielder Thomas Kahlenberg agreed a move to Bundesliga champions Wolfsburg yesterday, however, but will be available for selection.
