Three goals in eight minutes late in the second half gave Werder Bremen their first win of the Bundesliga season - 3-0 against Energie Cottbus on Saturday.
It looked like being another day of frustration for Thomas Schaaf's side as the game entered the final 15 minutes, before goals from Diego, Torsten Frings and Boubacar Sanogo swung the game Bremen's way.
It was a fitting reward for the home side, who had dominated the game from the off but looked like having to settle for their third draw in four Bundesliga games this season.
Bremen's Markus Rosenberg was the first to get a sight of goal when after eight minutes he fired a shot from inside the area which Gerhard Tremmel caught comfortably.
Denmark international Daniel Jensen was next to try his luck when he forcedremmel into a diving save with a long-range effort.
As the game creeped towards half-time Bremen upped their efforts, with Diego and Frings drilling shots at the Cottbus goal to no avail.
The visitors put up little fight, never really going close to upsetting Bremen at the back, and the only danger the home side faced was letting their heads drop as the game became scrappy as the second half wore on.
But with quarter of an hour to play any worries of another disappointing draw were erased when Diego hammered a long-range shot into the net.
Once in front Bremen never looked like relinquishing their lead, and they doubled their advantage in the 80th minute from long range again, this time Frings shooting from 25 yards and narrowly beating Tremmel.
With the lead safe it was left to Sanogo to put some shine on the result three minutes later when he dribbled through the Cottbus defence to go one-on-one with Tremmel, and he made no mistake with the finish.
