Bochum recorded their first win of the season with a 2-0 victory in a drab affair at the Ruhrstadion as Arminia Bielefeld's misery on the road continues.
First-half goals from Marcin Mieciel and Marc Pfertzel gave the hosts a comfortable lead at the break and they were never in danger of conceding it in a game of few clear-cut chances for either side.
Bielefeld had not celebrated a win on the road since beating Wolfsburg 3-1 on the opening day last season - some 399 days ago - and they were confident of breaking that unenviable run against a side who had not won at home for seven months.
However, they found themselves on the back foot in the 22nd minute when Stanislav Sestak picked out Mieciel who fired into the bottom-left corner from 10 yards, past the despairing dive of Bielefeld reserve goalkeeper Dennis Eilhoff.
There was worse to come for the visitors as just four minutes later Bochum doubled their lead.
Philipp Bonig's effort was scrambled away by the Bielefeld defence but only as far as Pfertzel who slotted home from six yards out.
The second half was not much better than the first and chances on goal were few and far between.
Bochum should have added a third in the 68th minute when Mimoun Azaouagh crossed to Sestak in the penalty area for a good first-time shot but Eilhoff punched away the danger.
Bielefeld's best chance of the game came 15 minutes from full time as Berat Sadik's effort brushed the ouside of the left-hand post after a clever one-two with Artur Wichniarek.
